Parker Jotter Premium 50th Anniversary Edition
In 1954, Parker launch it's first ballpoint pen - Parker Jotter. Over the next 50 years, it sold 750 millions.
In 2004, Parker release 2 silver filigree Premium Jotter. pens to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jotter pen.
Parker did not invent the ballpoint pen. In fact, it was invented in the 1930s by 2 Czechs.
However, Parker made a number of innovations that are still in use today.
At that time, most ballpoint pens use detachable caps, just like fountain pens. Parker Jotter uses a button actuated mechanism inside it's stainless steel cap., which expelled and retracted the refill. This feature make it convenience to use as it can be operated with one hand.
Another innovation is the rotating refill. Early ballpoint pens wear unevenly and will cease to work after 3 or 4 weeks. The Jotter's mechanism will rotate the refill 90 degree with each click. This allow the ball to wear evenly and prolong the life of the refill.
The Jotter Premium us based on the original Jotter Filigree, a pen that was sold almost exclusively in the 1959 New Yoke World's Fair. The Premium Edition feature a sterling silver cap, hallmarked as a guarantee of quality, sterling silver button and filigree sleeve.
The dome shape button is engraved with the number "50" and the arrow shaped clip is stainless steel without feathers.
The filigree effect is achieved by cutting the pattern into the sterling silver sleeve, and then molding the colored barrel with the sleeve. The pen comes in two finishes:
Licorice black on silver.
Saffron yellow on silver.
